Mary's lucky holiday
Read the text and choose the correct sentences.

Life is full of incredible coincidences. We're not always aware of what's happening around us and don't realise how things can be surprisingly connected. Take my case. Some years ago, my best friend and I decided to go on an expensive holiday. We'd saved money and hadn't been away the summer before, so we wanted to go to an exotic destination like the Maldives. The travel agent recommended one specific island which seemed extraordinary. We were very excited and decided on that destination. Unfortunately, it was fully booked on the dates we wanted, so the agent got us to choose an alternative resort. It looked pretty interesting too, and he let us upgrade the rooms for free. but I must admit we were still a bit disappointed. Well, we shouldn't have been, especially Mary, because she met the love of her life there, a young man from the USA who was on holiday for a week, just like us. They married a couple of years later and they made us all go out to America for their wedding! That was expensive, but worth it. If fate hadn't made us change our plans, they wouldn't have met and fallen in love.
A: The writer and her friend wanted to have an expensive holiday because they hadn't been away the year before.
B: They were disappointed about their first choice because there were no seats on the flight to the island.
C: As they were disappointed, the agent gave them a free upgrade.
D: In the end they were delighted with the new destination because the writer met the love of her life.
E: The writer said that her friend obliged them to go back to the Maldives.
