Hello there. I'm Tom McAlpine. I'm a graphic artist, illustrator and photographer. I (1. have) ________ a small studio in Peebles, Scotland. I (2. graduate) ________ from Edinburgh College of Art in 1993 and since then I (3. work) ________ as a freelance graphic artist producing illustration and graphic artwork. My clients are from a wide range of industries and I (4. work)________ with technical data for computing and popular photography, The National Press Graphics and the publication of magazines. A few years ago I (5. discover) ________ a new way of working with the online tools  Photoshop, Form Z, In Design. I (6. use)________ Photoshop extensively so the post production is important. The more I learn in my photography the more benefits I (7. get) ________.
Last year, I (8. decide) ________ to create  a dynamic advertising image. I (9. want) ________ to create an advert that would (10. combine)________ the photograph of a bottle of cider with splash. First I (11. sketch)________ and (12. work)________ out some ideas with different bottles. Then I (13. try)________ mixing the shot of the cider bottle with the ingredients used for making cider – water and apples. I managed to have the liquid interact with the fruit and the bottle, and I (14. create) ________ movement from right to left. The liquid was clean, sharp and clear to complement the values of the product. For the composition I (15. want)________ the water horizontal across the image. I (16. try) ________ throwing the water horizontally but I saw that this (17. create)________ very high velocity and too much turbulence, scattering the splash too much as it hit the bottle. I (18. hope)________ to capture silky folds and twists in the splashes around the bottle; this way I could (19. capture) ________ the distortion and refraction of the bottle in the main part of the splash and keep this area really detailed and interesting. I also (20. want)________ to keep the label clear and clean, which (21. be)________ hard as there  was a lot of turbulence around. So, I decided that I  would (22. shoot)________ the bottle horizontally. I (23. shoot) ________ a combination of a clean bottle image and splashes onto the bottle, then  shot the apples and splashes, and chose the best ones and composited the final images together in Photoshop.
