Lesson 9: Grammar review: the passive form
Decide whether the following statements are true (V) or false (F).
A: 1. The passive voice is used when we want to emphasize the action.
B: 2. The passive voice is used when we want to emphasize the subject of a sentence rather than the object.
C: 3. The passive is often used to report something, or to state a fact.
D: 4. When we know who the subject is, we put it at the very start of the sentence, with the preposition by, which is the agent.
E: 5. Each tense has its own passive voice, created by using a form of the auxiliary verb to be + past participle.
F: 6. The rules for passive negatives and questions are different from the ones for the active voice.
G: 7. In active sentences, the thing doing the action is the subject of the sentence and the thing receiving the action is the object
