Keith Haring

Keith Haring was an American artist, famous for his pop art, street art and sculptures. In this stage of his career he used a tag to sign his work. He first became famous when his stylized chalk drawings of people and dogs in thick lines and bright colours were spotted on New York subways. He later created bigger, colour work such as murals and sculptures. His work was influenced by his political and personal beliefs and by other artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. After becoming popular with both the general public and critics, his work was exhibited widely in the United States. Madonna used his art for animated backdrops in one of her tours.
