Reading - Sports
Cycling
Cycling is very popular around the world, and it can be a cheap or expensive activity. You need the bike, of course, and a helmet, and some people also buy special shorts and shoes. Many people ride in towns or cities as a cheap and healthy means of transport, and other people prefer a comfortable bike to cycle slowly and enjoy nature. But who does it as a serious sport? People who love speed. A racing bike is good for cycling fast and if you want to train hard to take part in competitions. Then there are the mountain bikers. These people wear special shorts and gloves, and usually buy knee and shin pads. Last weekend, we went to watch them near our house. The beginners rode badly, and they couldn't turn the corners well. They need to practise but they gave it their best shot. The experts came down the slopes very quickly. Some of them took up the sport when they were very young.
A: All cyclists wear special clothes when they cycle.
B: People travel cheaply on a bike in towns.
C: A racing bike is good for people who like speed.
D: Mountain bikers need very little equipment.
E: Less expert mountain bikers rode well.
F: Some good mountain bikers started cycling early.
