Reading: travelling and working
Digital nomads
As a result of the rise in remote working, many young people have got used to travelling and working at the same time instead of spending all their time in one place and in an office environment. However, as social animals, we are still used to a sense of community, which is why digital nomad villages in Europe and around the world started to appear a couple of years ago. The trend had started with a few coworking spaces and coliving accommodation which provided the chance to participate in communal activities and events. Social media platforms would provide the necessary social networking where like-minded people could cooperate. Digital nomads are not only single people in their twenties. They may also be families who make the decision to work and study on the road, getting accepted into similar nomadic communities as they travel. What do they get out of it? Certainly, freedom and flexibility, plenty of time to travel and see the world. It may even turn into a lifetime activity. The downsides may be complicated bureaucracy and the lack of a social safety net.
A: In the past, young workers used to spend more time moving around.
B: Digital nomads do all their socializing online.
C: Social networks help to put similar people in touch with each other.
D: Only young people decide to become digital nomads.
E: Some digital nomads decide to spend their whole life as nomads.
