Jane Eyre: themes
Read the text below and find the six mistakes in it.

The theme of adulthood and education is very important in the novel, because Jane, who is an orphan, desires to be loved first of all as a human being. Another crucial theme is moral corruption: Jane reaches economic independence, so she can accept a marriage proposal twice. In fact, marriage is presented more as a fight between equals than as a social compromise. However, the central theme of the novel is the analysis of the position of a governess in Victorian society. Being a governess seemed to be the only acceptable duty for women in Jane's social class. The novel also uses the traditional 'Gothic' monsters in a symbolic and engaging way.
