The Georgian poets
Before the Second World War there was a sharp distinction between the avant-garde groups and the poets still influenced by the Shakespearean Romantic tradition. The poets of the first group are known as the Georgian poets, from the anthology Georgian Poetry, published during the reign of George V. Among these poets were Rupert Hulme, Walter de la Mare and Edward Thomas. They focused on typically English elements like the countryside.
