STEP 5 Practise for your oral test! A smartphone ban
Choose the correct alternative to complete Fen's blog. Then think about the text. How do you feel about a ban on what is, for most teens, their favourite gadget? What's your opinion on a possible ban in your area? Make any changes you need and use it for your oral production.

Today, I want to share an item of news which I'm sure ________ will be interested in. I have recently heard that in St Albans, a town in south-east England, smartphones for under-14-year-olds might soon ________ banned. The campaign ________ promoted by all the headteachers in the area who feel that young students using the device ________ exposed to risks. Instead of smartphones, the use of a basic text and call phone is ________. Parents in St Albans ________ reacted enthusiastically, but what about us teens? What do we think about the ban? What would we do if our smartphones were taken away from us?
Well, I know all about the negative sides of excessive screen time: if I could go back and avoid wasting hours using social media, believe me I would. But I don't think ________ about smartphones is negative. For instance, I've become more of a techie! I have learned to ________ apps both on my smartphone and on my laptop. I also know it's best to ________ apps I don't need any more to save memory on my device. I've become fast at ________ various websites when I shop online so my parents generally rely on me to do it! But, more importantly, my smartphone allows me to enjoy my freedom without worrying: if I go out on my own, I feel safer knowing my phone is in my pocket and I can call for help.
