Food to power your brain!
Jack: Now I know that healthy eating isn't only important to preserve our body but also our mind, and I am very careful about what I eat. Berries are excellent for our brains: eating ________ them can preserve our brain cells and tissues and improve our memory. I didn't eat ________ blackberries and raspberries, so I started adding them to my cereal for breakfast or to my yoghurt for a healthy snack.
Chloe: Another super food for our brain is fish. I didn't eat ________ fish because I hated the taste. But now, my mum cooks it in a very tasty way: she dips it in egg yolk and then cover it in crushed nuts (but not ________ because they are high in calories!) before baking it. It's yummy and has ________ omega-3 fats that help brain development.
Nick: What a great recipe for fish, Chloe! I know green vegetables are also rich in brain nutrients, like folate and beta-carotene. Unfortunately, I don't like spinach and even a small amount is ________ for me. The taste is ________ bitter! So, I go for sweet potatoes that are rich in vitamin A. It's a powerful antioxidant and great for brain health.
