Lessing and politics
Read the text below and find the five mistakes in it.

Lessing's fiction is autobiographical, being based on her own experience of Africa. She became famous as a black African author influenced by the French literary tradition. In her writing Africa is seen as a mirror for the universe. Her political consciousness prompts her to analyse the clash of cultures, racial inequality as well as the internal divisions within an individual, the conflict between the private conscience and the collective evil. She admired 19th-century novels and tried to combine their 'climate of ethical action' with 20th-century ideas about consciousness and time. Central to her writing is the tension between the urge to describe society in a surreal way and the urge to question it through utopia and dystopia.
