Reading: The natural world
Read the text about Yosemite National Park and choose the correct alternative to complete the sentences.
While we were touring the West coast of America last year, we had a unique experience. We drove away from the busy beaches and cities because we wanted to see quieter places. We went to visit the majestic Yosemite National Park. There you can explore the imposing mountains, inspiring waterfalls and many other features. The park is home to some of the giant sequoias, which are bigger and older than many other trees in the world and you can also discover the more historic Gold Rush landmarks.
We decided to rent a car because it was cheaper than a jeep tour and we drove through the forests. If you are fitter and healthier, you can also hike in the mountains or take canoe trips down the many rivers. Years ago you could drive through one of the giant trees in the area, but it fell over during a big storm a few years ago. Whether it's your first time visiting Yosemite National Park or you're a seasoned veteran traveler, you'll always find something new to do here. We spent a few days there and certainly want to go back.
