Reading: A crime scene
Yesterday I saw a short, fair-haired young man approaching a young woman outside the train station. He whispered something in her ear and she stepped back in fright. She clutched her handbag as if she was scared that he wanted to rob her, but he didn't move. The young woman started to walk away but the man had grabbed her arm. Then he seemed to be getting angry and I thought he might attack her. Suddenly, she screamed and a police officer who had heard the noise came running towards them. The man immediately let go of her arm and seemed to calm down. The officer asked them what was happening and the young lady – quite surprisingly – said that everything was OK. We don't know who the man was. Maybe she was a thief and she was part of the gang but she didn't look like a criminal. Perhaps he was blackmailing her… Or do you think I've been watching too many crime series on TV?
A: The writer saw a tall, dark man going towards a young woman.
B: The writer thought that the man wanted to attack her.
C: She was so scared by the man that she started screaming.
D: The man calmed down when he saw the police officer approaching.
E: The witness thought that the young lady looked like a thief.
F: The witness had just watched a crime series on TV.
