Reading: Currencies and payments
There are 180 currencies in use nowadays, but most buying and selling is done in just 10 of them. The US dollar has been the most traded currency in the world since the Second World War. The second is the euro, which also helps trade between EU member countries. Next, we have the Japanese Yen and the British pound sterling, which is one of the oldest currencies in circulation. Despite Brexit, London is still one of the biggest financial centers of the world. Of course, people make more and more payments online nowadays. The most popular online payment methods are credit and debit cards. If you use a debit card, the bank takes the money out of your account immediately, but with a credit card the bank takes the money later. Many people prefer to use a prepaid card, which is safe because it limits any transactions to the amount of money that is on the card. Sometimes there is also an option to pay on delivery of the item, and mobile payments are increasingly common, where you pay using your smartphone.
A: The Euro is one of the top 5 currencies.
B: The Yen is one of the oldest currencies in circulation.
C: Prepaid cards are the most common way of making online payments.
D: The bank takes the money immediately when you pay with a credit card.
E: The prepaid card is considered a safe option.
F: Most young people use mobile payments.
