Choose the correct alternative. Then think about the text. Have you got a favourite book? What interesting book have you read recently? Make any changes you need and use it for your oral production.
My favourite book is called Dear Martin and it's by American writer Nic Stone. I read it last year. I can't remember when exactly, but it ________ have been January or February because I'd received it for Christmas and I wanted to read it before the other books I had as the title and the cover ________ very interesting.
It's the story of black teenager Justyce McAllister, top of his class and set for Yale university, who is arrested unfairly by the police. The ________ is contemporary Atlanta. Looking for answers about racism in the USA, the ________ decides to write a series of letters to the deceased Martin Luther King Jr. It ________ as if he's asking for advice to the iconic social rights activist, but, while writing letters, Justyce reasons on racial issues in today's society.
I love the book because it's gripping and the plot is interesting. I remember I read it ________ in a couple of days.
The novel belongs to the genre of 'realistic fiction', which is not something I usually enjoy: I always have my ________ in a book, but I love sci-fi novels and thrillers. My friend Ally, who gave me Dear Martin, ________ it for the reviews she'd read online (it was a New York Times best-seller) or for the beautiful cover. Anyway, it was a great choice!
