The Theatre of the Absurd
Read the text below and find the five mistakes in it.

The starting point of Absurd drama was Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett, first performed in Paris in 1965. The dramatists of this group never formed a school, but they all felt cut off from ethnic, metaphysical and transcendental roots. Beckett's plays dramatise this sense of metaphysical conversion and rootlessness. However, instead of discussing the absurdity of the human condition, they put abstract situations on stage. Moreover, in the Theatre of the Absurd the characters' words are contradicted by their actions and sometimes reduced to incoherent monologues. The plays have no real story and seem the mere reflection of dreams and nightmares.

Existentialism: themes
Read the text below and find the five mistakes in it.

Existentialists went against the rationalist traditions, because they saw no life in the world. They thought that the universe was benevolent. The free will that allows man to choose was experienced as a source of joy. In the Existentialists' view, the truth is revealed most clearly in moments of focused psychological anxiety. These themes were all present in the plays of the Theatre of the Absurd and in the works of the Lost Generation.
